Gift Bag Decorating Session -- Tuesday, November 16th from 4-8:30pm (drop-in)
Are you a teen looking for service hours? Throughout the holiday season, the library will be selling handmade decorative gift bags to our patrons. We will be holding decorating sessions where teens can help create these festive bags. No crafty or artistic ability needed! Teens do not have to stay for the entire session (if you can just do one or two hours, that's fine with us!). For teens in 6th grade and up.
Youth Activity Committee Meeting -- Wednesday, November 17th at 4:30pm
The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is a fun group that undertakes projects and volunteers for community events. New members are always welcome. Get into the DIY spirit! Participants will view examples of zines (self-published mini magazines), learn how to create their own zine, and contribute to a zine we'll make at the workshop. For teens in grades 5-8.
Teen Manga Group -- Thursday, November 18th at 7pm
Join us for our monthly celebration of all things manga and anime! Each meeting is different (sometimes we'll watch anime, play a manga-related game, recommend our favorite manga series, have a cosplay party, etc.) but it's always FUN! For teens in 6th grade and up.

Celebrate the Thanksgiving season by making a Cornucopia Door Sign. There is a $3.00 fee for this craft. To secure your on-line registration, fee must be paid within three days at the library.

There are zines about all kinds of topics: personal zines, how-to zines, travel zines, and several comic zines. Patrons are encouraged to enjoy the zines while in the library, so please visit the Teen Space to have a look at them!

Holiday Fundraisers at the Library
Throughout December, the library will be holding various holiday fundraising events. Patrons can purchase homemade gift bags decorated by trained teen volunteers or have their presents wrapped by volunteers for a small donation. It's a chance to get going on your holiday to-do list and support the library at the same time! Gift bags will be available for purchase at the beginning of December, and gift wrapping sessions begin on December 9th. Thank you for your support!

From November 1st to 30th, Homer Library patrons can pay off library fines with food instead of cash! Bring in one non-perishable food item and we'll waive $1 off existing fines or returned overdues. Paying for late fees for InterLibrary Loan items and replacement fees of lost items is not included in this offer. Up to $20 in overdue fines will be waived for each donation from the following list of acceptable items:
+ 8 oz. or more can of fruits or vegetables+ 6 oz. or more can of meat, fish, or poultry
+ 10.5 oz or more can of soup (no packaged soup or ramen, please)
+ 1 box pasta, rice, or dried beans
+ 12 oz. or more box of cereal
+ 8 oz. or more jar of peanut butter
Offer valid only during the month of November. Only non-perishable, undamaged, unexpired, and labeled items will be accepted. Additional donations are welcome. All donated food will be given to local food banks for distribution. Thank you for your support!
National Game DayStop by the library on Saturday, November 13th to celebrate National Gaming Day! We'll have gaming during open library hours. A New Home For Our Guinea Fowls Hopefully you were able to say hello to the three guinea fowls that hatched at the library! We housed the little guys for the past two weeks, but now they are too big to keep here. The Homer Glen farmer who gave the eggs to us will be raising them as they grow bigger! Check back in the Spring of 2011 for more egg-citing chick adventures!
