The Library will be closed on Friday, December 31st and Saturday, January 1st in observance of the New Year's holiday. The library will re-open on Sunday, January 2 at 4pm.

When the library is closed, you can still:
+ chat online with a librarian through our ASKAWAY service
+ use our library databases
+ search our catalog.

In observance of Christmas, the library will be closed Friday, December 24th through Sunday, December 26th. We will reopen Monday morning at 8:30 am. (Bookmobile service will also be suspended from December 16th -January 2nd).

Mystery Book Discussion -- Monday, December 13th at 7pm

TEENS

Teen Manga Group -- Thursday, December 16th at 7pm
It's that time again -- the Teen Manga Group's Holiday Cosplay Party! Join us as we play manga games and eat yummy snacks. There will also be a best dressed contest, so come dressed in your finest cosplay costume or manga-inspired outfit! The party will go a little later than our usual meetings -- until 8:45pm -- so please make sure to inform your ride! For teens in 6th grade and up.

KIDS

Bookmobile Event: Shrinky Dinks
Get your shrink on! Visit the Bookmobile any day between December 6-15 to decorate and bake a holiday Shrinky Dink. Then enter our holiday prize drawing!

Drop-In Christmas Crafts -- Tuesday, Dec. 21st from 11-7pm & Wednesday, Dec. 22nd from 11am-7pm
Kids of all ages are invited to our drop-in holiday craft sessions! There will be a variety of different crafts to make, all guaranteed to get you in the holiday spirit. Some crafts may require the assistance of a parent or guardian. All crafts are free, and you can stop by any time between 11am-7pm!

Gift Wrapping Fundraiser
Do you have presents in need of wrapping for the winter holidays? Here's an opportunity to have your gifts wrapped while supporting the library! Our trained teen volunteers will gift wrap the presents you bring in. A small donation is requested. Teen-created gift bags will also be available for purchase! Gift wrapping will be available on the following days:

Monday, Dec. 13th from 6-8pm
Tuesday, Dec. 14th from 6-8pm
Wednesday, Dec. 15th from 6-8pm
Thursday, Dec. 16th from 6-8pm
Saturday, Dec. 18th from 10-3pm
Sunday, Dec. 19th from 5-7pm

Prairiesmoke Writers Group -- Wednesday, December 8th at 7pm
Stop by the monthly meeting of the library's writers group! You're invited to discuss your work with other writers and have fun with some group writing assignments. New members are welcome! Writers of all levels are encouraged to attend. Registration is not required.

Armchair Travelers: Texas -- Friday, December 10th at 1:30pm
Meander by RV with Barbara Sugden and Ron Vargason along the wide, windswept beaches of the Gulf Coast, through the border towns and nature preserves of the Rio Grande Valley, historic San Antonio, the serene Texas Hill Country, and the mountains and deserts of Big Bend National Park.

Did you read The September Sisters by Jillian Cantor? If so, stop by the meeting of the Teen Book Club to discuss it! There will be snacks, friends, and fun!

Teen Advisory Board Meeting -- Thursday, December 9th at 7pm
The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a library group for high school students looking to influence the library's teen services. Meetings include discussions of books, programs, and other library topics. One hour of community service is given for each TAB meeting attended. For teens in 9-12th grade.

Stuff a Snowman or Gingerbread Man -- Wednesday, December 8th from 4:30-6pm (drop in)
Drop in to stuff your own holiday toy! There will be 3 holiday toys available: a red-nosed reindeer, a snowman, and a gingerbread boy. There is an $11 fee per child for this craft, and you can drop-in anytime between 4:30 - 6pm to participate.
