Homer Township Public Library currently has no power and will remain closed until power is restored. It is estimated that power will be restored at 2 pm.

The library will be closed on Monday, February 21st in observance of Presidents Day. Bookmobile service will also be suspended for the day. We will reopen on Tuesday morning at 8:30 am.

ADULTS & SENIORS

Mystery Book Discussion -- Monday, February 14th at 7pm
WHO DID IT?? Everyone is welcome to join us for a lively, variety of mystery book selections. New books are available the night of the meeting. This month we'll be discussing Slow Fire by Ken Mercer!

ESL Class -- Wednesday, February 16th at 6:30pm
ESL Classes for Adult Language Learners offered free of charge. Workbook will be provided. Registration is required. 2011 adult literacy programs are made possible by a grant from the American Library Association and the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.

Adult Book Discussion -- Wednesday, February 16th at 7:30pm
This month's selection for the Adult Book Discussion group is Snow in August by Pete Hamill. Please join us if you've read this book, as we'd love to hear what you thought of it! We are a fun, friendly group, and new members are always welcome.

Chick Lit Book Discussion -- Tuesday, February 22nd at 7pm
Join us as we discuss The Wednesday Sisters by Meg Waite Clayton. Snacks will be provided and new members are encouraged to attend!

Adult Movie -- Friday, February 25th at 1pm
Enjoy a relaxing afternoon at the library while watching a film on our big screen. Please call the library at (708) 301-7908 for movie title and length.

TEENS

Teen Manga Group -- Thursday, February 17th at 7pm
Do you love manga and anime? If so, the Teen Manga Group is the group for you! Join us as we do different activities each month: watch anime, play manga-inspired games, share artwork, and more! For teens in 6th grade and up.

Youth Activity Committee Meeting -- Wednesday, February 23rd at 4:30pm
The Youth Activity Committee (YAC) is a fun group that undertakes projects and volunteers for community events. New members are always welcome. Reminder post cards will be mailed to members monthly. For teens in grades 5-8.

Chocolate Fondue Fun -- Thursday, February 24th at 7pm
Dip into the fun! We'll be taste testing different kinds of gooey chocolate delights, fondue style. For teens in 6th grade and up.

KIDS

Sing Song & Yoga -- Friday, February 18th at 10am
A unique program designed for children and their caregivers using music, song and yoga. Ages 3 and up. Space is limited, so registration is required.

Bookmobile Event: Feed Your Need For Film
Cast your vote for which films and actors will win Oscars! Whoever picks the most winners will be awarded movie tickets. Stop by the bookmobile any day between February 14 - 23 to enter! A schedule of stops can be found by clicking here.

Read With Rex -- Sunday, February 20th from 4-5:30pm
Read to our gentle and well trained reading dogs. 15 minute sessions. Registration is required. Participants will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Multiple dogs will be onsite.

Chocolate Fun -- Wednesday, February 23rd at 6:30pm
Do you LOVE chocolate? Come learn about that sweet treat, participate in fun games that put your taste buds to the test and make a crafty dessert. Yum! This program will be presented in English and Polish. Ages 8-12. Registration required. This program is made possible by a grant from the American Library Association and the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.

Readers Theater -- Saturday, February 26th from 10:30am -- Noon
Reader's Theater is a dramatic presentation of a written work in a script form. Readers read from a script and reading parts are divided among the readers. The focus is on reading the text with expressive voices and gesture. No costumes needed. Props will be created by the actors and each play is performed at the end of each session. Ages: 8 - 13. Registration required.

Chocolate Overdose -- Tuesday, February 8th at 7pm
Indulge in one of life's real treats! Enjoyed by all, chocolate knows no bounds. Samples of chocolate will be shown, and tasted! Presented by El Chef Michael Niksic.

Cupcake Decorating -- Wednesday, February 9th at 7pm
Come join Sue Peltzer, owner of Delicious Creations in Hickory Hills, as she teaches you new ways to decorate cupcakes.

Prairiesmoke Writers Group -- Wednesday, February 9th at 7pm
Stop by the monthly meeting of the library's writers group! You're invited to discuss your work with other writers and have fun with some group writing assignments. New members are welcome! Writers of all levels are encouraged to attend. Registration is not required.

Armchair Travelers: Soul of the Navajo Nation -- Friday, February 11th at 1:30pm
Come with Bill Helmuth on this journey into the heart and soul of the Navajo Nation as you see the homes, ceremonies, schools, and trading posts in this protected territory. A light refreshment will be served.

Tech Petting Zoo -- Saturday, February 12th drop-in from 1-3pm
Stop by the library any time between 1-3pm for a chance to become familiar with our Nooks and Sony E-readers. Hands on!

The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a library group for High School students. Member have an opportunity to influence the library's teen services. Meetings include discussion of books, programs, and other library topics.

Tween Club: Journal Notebooks -- Tuesday, February 8th at 4:30pm
Join the Tween Club for kids in grades 3rd to 5th. This month we will be creating a journal notebook. In March join in the discussion of a book that the group picks in February. Light refreshments will be served.

Babysitting Class -- Thursday, February 10th from 5-7:15pm
Certified instructor will teach babysitting basics. $20.00 fee for this program may be made in person at the library within 5 days of registration. Payment may also be made on E-Pay. This payment method is located on the left hand side of the library webpage. Please bring a small stuffed animal or doll to class. Take home information will also be provided. Students must be 10 years old and up.

Family Movie: Sunday, February 13th at 4:30pm
Gather up the family and head down to the library for Family Movie Night! We'll provide the popcorn and drinks. Please call (708) 301-7908 for movie title and length.

SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS

Due to severe weather conditions the library will be closing today Tuesday, February 01 at 2:00 p.m. We will remain closed all day tomorrow Wednesday, February 02 and anticipate reopening Thursday, February 03 at 8:30 a.m. Programs will be rescheduled and due dates for materials will automatically be extended.
