Sharon Alter compares and contrasts the roles, trials and tribulations, and accomplishments of Betty Ford, Rosalynn Carter, Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush, and Hillary Rodham Clinton as First Ladies. "This progam made posible in part by an award from the Illinois Humanities Council, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Illinois General Assembly."
