ADULTS & SENIORS:

**Women's Safety: Fight Like a Girl -- Tuesday, April 8th at 7 pm
Learn and practice effective self-defense techniques. For females ages 14 and older. Space is limited and registration is required. To register, call (708) 301-7908 or visit the circulation desk.

Prairiesmoke Writers Group -- Wednesday, April 9th at 7 pm
Stop by the monthly meeting of the library's writers group to discuss your work with other writers. New members are welcome!


Knitting Club -- Thursday, April 10th at 7 pm
Stop by the library's monthly knitting club! All knitters are welcome, from beginners to experts. Bring a project you've been working on or use the time to start something new! Participants must bring their own supplies, although the library has a limited number of donated yarn and needles for knitters to keep. (The Knitting Club usually meets on the third Tuesday of every month -- please note the changed date for April!)

Adult Book Discussion -- Wednesday, April 16th at 7:30 pm
Join us as we discuss Judy Fong Bates' "Midnight at the Dragon Cafe." New members are welcome!

Introduction to Computers -- Friday, April 18th at 10 am
A computer class for those with little or no experience with computers. The fee per class is $10.00 per hour for Homer residents and $20.00 for non-residents. All fees are non-refundable. Registration is required. To sign up, visit the circulation desk.

**Art Excursions: Pompeii -- Saturday, April 19th at 11:30 am
Visit Pompeii before and after Mount Vesuvius erupted and covered the city with volcanic ash. Presented by Jeff and Michelle Mishur of Art Excursions, Inc.

Teen Manga Group -- Thursday, April 17th at 7 pm
Stop by the library on Thursday, April 17th at 7 pm to join the Teen Manga Group! Talk about your favorite manga with other teens, and learn how to submit manga reviews to be posted on the library's Teen Reviews website! For teens in 6th grade and up.

KIDS:


Spring Chicks Kids Craft -- Monday, April 7th at 7 pm
Celebrate spring by making a spring chicks craft! Children 6 and under require adult help. The fee is $3 per child.

**Singing Around the World with Miss Anna -- Sunday, April 13th at 4:30 pm
Take a trip to the seven continents through Miss Anna's music! Listen to native songs and instruments while learning about the world in this family program.

Cool Bunny Kids Craft -- Monday, April 14th at 7 pm
Make your own cool bunny! Children 6 and under require adult help. The fee is $3 per child.

While we have many upcoming spring programs, we have been planning several exciting summer programs! Here's a sneak peek at what's ahead: Haunted Illinois (June 2), A Child's Garden (June 5), Traces Bus-eum: Behind Barbed Wire (June 10), Battling body Images (June 10), Social Security: Planning for Your Retirement (June 24), New to Parenting? Learn the Essentials (July 10), El Chef Niksic's Salad Dressing (July 15), Abraham Lincoln In Song (July 29).

Summer also marks the return of the Teen Intern Program! Applications will be available towards the end of April. Watch the Teen Events blog for more information!
