ADULTS & SENIORS

**Bullying Prevention -- Tuesday, May 20th at 7 pm
Adults will learn about the different forms of bullying and how to manage it, school-wide initiatives addressing bullying, and ways to encourage youth to speak out against it.

Knitting Club -- Tuesday, May 20th at 7 pm
Stop by the library's monthly knitting club! All knitters are welcome, from beginners to experts. Bring a project you've been working on or use the time to start something new! Participants must bring their own supplies.

Adult Book Discussion -- Wednesday, May 21st at 7:30 pm
Join us as we discuss Kevin Brockmeier's "The Brief History of the Dead." New members are welcome!

**UPCOMING! Haunted Illinois -- Monday, June 2nd at 7 pm
Be prepared to get spooked! You'll learn about the mysterious and ghostly history of Illinois, and discover the most haunted sites in our area!

**UPCOMING! Traces BUS-eum: Behind Barbed Wire -- Monday, June 9th from 8-11 am
Back due to popular demand! Visit this unique traveling museum and learn about the experiences of WWII POWs from the Midwest. Also at this event, David Molinari will be perfroming "Songs of World War II" and Ray Perisin (WWII POW survivor and Homer Glen resident) will display memorabilia and discuss his experiences.

TEENS

Teens Techies -- Tuesday, May 27th at 7 pm
For teens in 6th grade and up. New members are welcome!

YAC Meeting -- Wednesday, May 28th at 7 pm
Attend the monthly meeting of the library's Youth Activity Committee! For teens in 6th grade and up. New members are welcome!

**Financial Fitness for Life -- Wednesday, May 28th at 7 pm
Teens will learn how to make great long term decisions when it comes to earning, spending, saving, borrowing, investing, and managing money! Teens participating in Energy will receive credit for attending this program.

KIDS

UPCOMING! Folk Songs of the Great Lakes Region -- Tuesday, June 17th at 1 pm
Listen as Lee Murdock brings history to life as he tells the stories, in song, of the brave pioneering spirit of the people who settled the Great Lakes and the Midwest. A program for patrons of all ages!

Library Closed -- Sunday, May 25th and Monday, May 26th
In observance of Memorial Day, the library will be closed on May 25 and 26. Please note that the library is not open on Sundays from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

When the library is closed, you can still:
+ chat online with a librarian through our ASKAWAY service
+ use our library databases
+ search our catalog.

Homer Library's 25th Anniversary "Festival of Cultures" Celebration -- Saturday, June 7th from 10 - 3 pm
Celebrate the library's 25th anniversary with live entertainment, snacks, raffles, and prizes! For more details, including a full schedule of entertainment, click here! Also, click here to learn 25 things you may not know about the library!

Quilt Raffle
The library is holding a quilt raffle! This twin sized, gorgeous quilt was specially made for the raffle and donated by Kara of Kara's Quilt Design. It is available for viewing at the circulation desk. Tickets are $5 each or 5 tickets for $20 (proceeds to benefit the Homer Library). The winner will be notified the week of June 20th, and does not need to be present to win. Good luck!

Used Book Sale -- Now Accepting Donations
The library is now accepting book donations for our first ever Used Book Sale, to be held on August 15th and 16th! If you have gently used books that you would like to donate to this event, please drop them off at the library during open hours. We are accepting all donations except National Geographic magazine, encyclopedias published before 2003, and items in poor condition. Thank you for your help in making this event a success!

Book Discussion Groups
Looking to join a book discussion group? The Homer Library offers 4 monthly book discussion groups and new members are always welcome! Stop by the library to pick up a copy of the book, and then join us for some lively conversation and good times!

+ Teen Book Discussion (meets the first Tuesday of the month at 7 pm). For June: "The Night My Sister Went Missing" by Carol Plum-Ucci.

+ Mystery Book Discussion (meets the second Monday of the month at 7 pm). For June: "What the Dead Know" by Laura Lippman.

+ Adult Book Discussion (meets the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30 pm). For May: "The Brief History of the Dead" by Kevin Brockmeier. For June: "The Giant's House" by Elizabeth McCracken.

+ Chick Lit Book Discussion (meets the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7 pm). For May: "Flirting with Forty" by Jane Porter. For June: "Revenge of the Midle-Aged Woman" by Elisabeth Buchan.

Voter Registration
Did you know that you can register to vote at the library? Just bring two forms of valid identification (at least one proving legal residence in the Will County). Please call ahead (708-301-7908) to make sure that a registrar is in the building. You can also register to vote using a mail in form found on the Will County Clerk's website. To access this form, click here.
