ADULTS & SENIORS

Chick Lit Book Discussion -- Wednesday, May 28th at 7 pm
Join us to discuss Jane Porter's "Flirting with Forty." The Chick Lit Book Discussion Group is fairly new and looking to expand -- new members are encouraged to join!

Haunted Illinois -- Monday, June 2nd at 7 pm
Be prepared to get spooked! You'll learn about the mysterious and ghostly history of Illinois, and discover the most haunted sites in our area. Presented by Troy Taylor, author of such books as Haunted Illinois and Weird Illinois.

A Child's Garden -- Thursday, June 5th at 7 pm
Studies show that children work better when exposed to nature. This parenting session will show parents appropriate garden activities for children.

Homer Library's 25th Anniversary "Festival of Cultures" Celebration -- Saturday, June 7th from 10 - 3 pm
Celebrate the library's 25th anniversary with live entertainment, snacks, raffles, and prizes! For more details, including a full schedule of entertainment, click here! Also, click here to learn 25 things you may not know about the library!

**UPCOMING! Traces BUS-eum: Behind Barbed Wire -- Monday, June 9th from 8-11 am
Back due to popular demand! Visit this unique traveling museum and learn about the experiences of WWII POWs from the Midwest. Also at this event, David Molinari will be perfroming "Songs of World War II" and Ray Perisin (WWII POW survivor and Homer Glen resident) will display memorabilia and discuss his experiences.

UPCOMING! Folk Songs of the Great Lakes Region -- Tuesday, June 17th at 1 pm
Listen as Lee Murdock brings history to life as he tells the stories, in song, of the brave pioneering spirit of the people who settled the Great Lakes and the Midwest. A program for patrons of all ages!

TEENS

Teens Techies -- Tuesday, May 27th at 7 pm
For teens in 6th grade and up. New members are welcome!

YAC Meeting -- Wednesday, May 28th at 4:30 pm
Attend the monthly meeting of the library's Youth Activity Committee! For teens in 6th grade and up. New members are welcome!

**Financial Fitness for Life -- Wednesday, May 28th at 7 pm
Teens will learn how to make great long term decisions when it comes to earning, spending, saving, borrowing, investing, and managing money! Teens participating in Energy will receive credit for attending this program.

Teen Book Discussion -- Tuesday, June 3rd at 7 pm
Join us to discuss Carol Plum Ucci's "The Night My Sister Went Missing" and talk about the other books you've been reading. Open to teens in 6th grade and up. New members are welcome!

KIDS

UPCOMING! Summer Reading Program Kick-Off -- Monday, June 16th
The library's Summer Reading Program starts on June 16th! Stop by the library to meet Jammer, the mascot for the Joliet Jackhammers, from 11am - noon! Kids can also sign up to participate in "Are You Smarter Than a Librarian?" which runs in 30 minutes sessions from 1 -3 pm. For more information, contact Kitty Mitchell at (708) 301-7908.

Barnes & Noble Bookfair -- Saturday, June 14th from 9am - 11pm
Visit any Barnes & Noble bookstore on Saturday, June 14th and you can support the Homer Library with your purchase! Present a voucher (available at the library, in the library's newsletter, or at the Orland Park Barnes & Noble) or simply mention the library at the register, and a percentage of the net sale will be donated to the library! We will be at the Orland Park Barnes & Noble hosting the following events that day:

9 am - 1 pm: Raffle! Winner drawn at 1 pm (winner does not need to be present).

10am - 1pm: Free gift wrapping with any purchase!

10am - 10:30am: "Toy Story" Performance by Homer Glen's Dance Studio

10am - noon: Learn to make origami

10am - 1:30pm: Drop in story hour for children

11am - noon: Watercolor demo with Cyn O'Brian of the Lemont Artist Guild

Noon - 2pm: Photographer Bill Uznanski of the Lemont Artist Guild presents "Creative Pictures: How to Capture an Excellent Pose"
