ADULTS & SENIORS

**A Child's Garden -- Thursday, June 5th at 7 pm
Studies show that children work better when exposed to nature. This parenting session will show parents appropriate garden activities for children.

Homer Library's 25th Anniversary "Festival of Cultures" Celebration -- Saturday, June 7th from 10 - 3 pm
Celebrate the library's 25th anniversary with live entertainment, snacks, raffles, and prizes! For more details, including a full schedule of entertainment, click here! Also, click here to learn 25 things you may not know about the library!

**Traces BUS-eum: Behind Barbed Wire -- Monday, June 9th from 8-11 am
Back due to popular demand! Visit this unique traveling museum and learn about the experiences of WWII POWs from the Midwest. Also at this event, David Molinari will be perfroming "Songs of World War II" and Ray Perisin (WWII POW survivor and Homer Glen resident) will display memorabilia and discuss his experiences.

**Battling Body Images -- Tuesday, June 10 at 7 pm
This solution-focused session will provide parents and educators with an in-depth understanding of body image and issues associated with image disturbances.

Prairiesmoke Writers Group -- Wednesday, June 11th at 7 pm
Stop by the monthly meeting of the library's writers group to discuss your work with other writers. New members are welcome!

**Armchair Travelers -- Thursday, June 12th from 11 - 12:30 pm
Al and Gail Popowits will take you to Venice, Italy! Travel down the Grand Canal, visit the Piazza San Marco, and learn about historic bridges, churches, and palaces.

Adult Movie -- Friday, June 13th at 1 pm
Join us for a movie and popcorn! All adults are welcome. Call (708) 301-7908 for movie title and more information.

TEENS

UPCOMING! Teen Game Nights! -- Wednesdays from June 18 - July 23 from 6:30 - 8 pm
It's game time at the library's open gaming sessions for teens! Play video games like Rock Band or Guitar Hero, or kick it old school with board games. For teens in 6th grade and up -- bring your friends!

KIDS

UPCOMING! Summer Reading Program Kick-Off -- Monday, June 16th
The library's Summer Reading Program starts on June 16th! Stop by the library to meet Jammer, the mascot for the Joliet Jackhammers, from 11am - noon! Kids can also sign up to participate in "Are You Smarter Than a Librarian?" which runs in 30 minutes sessions from 1 -3 pm. For more information, contact Kitty Mitchell at (708) 301-7908.

Summer Newsletter Now Available!
The Summer 2008 edition of the library newsletter is now available! Inside you will find information on all of our upcoming summer programming, including our summer reading program, bookmobile events, the used book sale, and the return of El Chef Niksic to the library! Copies of the newsletter are available at the library, or you can view it from home by clicking here!

Lockport Township High School's Summer Reading
Get a jump start on your summer reading! The library now has copies of the books listed on Lockport Township High School's summer reading list. Books are on display at the Help Desk, and we are doing our best to have copies of each book available. Don't know what books you need to read? We have a copy of the reading list, too!

**Funding for this program is brought to you as part of a grant that was awarded to the Homer Township Public Library by the Illinois State Library (ISL), a Division of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), under the federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA).
