College Planning Workshop -- Thursday, October 2nd at 7pm
College Funding Strategies will host a free college planning workshop for parents of high school students who are concerned about paying for college. This session concentrates on helping high school students pick the right college while causing the least impact on your family's finances.
Stuck in the 60's for Life -- Monday, October 6th at 7pm
Enjoy a flashback to the 1960's! Listen as Tom Malouf fills the library with songs from these happy days. This is a program the whole family will love!
Mystery Book Club -- Monday, October 6th at 7pm
Join us as we discuss The Cruelest Month by Louise Penny and eat delicious snacks! Books are available at the library for check out, and new members are always welcome.
Prairiesmoke Writers Group -- Wednesday, October 8th at 7pm
Stop by the monthly meeting of the library's writers group to discuss your work with other writers. New members are welcome!
Friends of the Library Meeting -- Thursday, October 9th at 7pm
All Friends of the Library (or those interested in becoming a Friend!) are invited to the monthly Friends meeting at the library. We'll be discussing future projects and fundraising ideas, and we'd love to hear your input!
Arm Chair Travelers -- Friday, October 10th from 1:30 to 3pm
Carl DiNello will take you on a tour of Greece! This journey includes modern day Greece with a sprinking of Greek mythology. Light refreshments are provided.
Teen Book Club -- Tuesday, October 7th at 7pm
We'll be discussing Generation Dead by Daniel Waters and talking about any other books that we've been reading! Open to teens in 6th grade and up.
No Boys Allowed -- Friday, October 3rd from 6 to 8pm
Girls will enjoy a story, craft, and pampering at this girls-only party! Wear your favorite "comfys" and be ready to relax and have fun! For girls ages 5-10. Space is limited and registration is required.
Polish Story Time -- Thursdays from 1:15 to 2:30pm
For children ages 3-6, these story time sessions use both Polish and English books to help children become accustomed to the English language. Space is limited, and registration is required.
2008 Author Fair
The third annual Author Fair is almost here! This event, which is sponsored by the Friends of the Library, will be held on Monday, October 20th from 6:30 - 8:45pm. The authors to be showcased at the 2008 Author Fair include L. Sue Dirkin, George N. Kulles, Helen Macie Osterman, Sherry Scarpaci, Daniel P. Smith, Travis Thrasher, and Rita Woods. Authors of childrens' books will also be in attendance, including Kevin Franz, Kevin Luthardt, and Janet Riehecky. Visit the library to check out the authors' books before the event!
