ADULTS & SENIORS

Knitting Group -- Tuesday, April 21st at 7pm
Bring your yarns and needles and join the library's monthly knitting club! Meet other knitters and view each other's projects. The group meets on the third Tuesday of every month.

Investing for Your Future in Today's Market -- Wednesday, April 22nd at 6:30pm
Learn how today's economy affects everyone in the household. Bring the entire family to this event and take a look at today's economic environment and the impact on your investments. Learn what you should do today and how you should invest for the future. While adults participate in this informative session, children are invited to join Junior Achievement of Chicago's financial literacy and economic programs. Topics include Basic Banking Services, Basic Finance (Youth), Budgeting and Saving, Investing and Saving.

Chick Lit Book Discussion -- Tuesday, April 28th at 7pm
Join us as we discuss Names My Sisters Call Me by Megan Crane. Books are available at the library for check out. New members are welcome!

Advanced eBay -- Wednesday, April 29th at 7pm
Now that you've sold your items on eBay, how do you maneuver around your eBay account? This eBay lecture will take you into more details on the famous internet auction website. You will learn how to edit a live auction and how to check to see how many people have looked at your auction. You'll also learn how to process sold auctions with invoices and packing slips. You'll see how to process payments through the PayPal website, along with how to pay your eBay fees, how to generate positive feedback and handle disputes, and much more.

Training to be Top Dog -- Thursday, April 30th at 7pm
Presenter Alex Brooks will cover behavior-related issues including how to train an aggressive, timid, or overactive dog; basic commands; ending excessive barking; leash training; tips for purchasing a dog; the differences between pet shops; private breeders and shelter dogs; understanding your dogs; understanding your dog's body language; and how to introduce a new dog into the home or to an existing dog. No pets please!

TEENS

YAC Meeting -- Wednesday, April 29th at 4:30pm
Stop by the monthly meeting of the library's Youth Activity Committee! Open to teens in 6th grade and up. New members are welcome!

KIDS

Mother's Day Craft -- Tuesday, April 21st at 4:30pm
Create a Mother's Day flowerpot! Children 6 and under require adult help. There is a $3 fee. To register, call (708) 301-7908.

Culture Club: Peru -- Saturday, April 25th from 10 - 11:30am
Travel to faraway lands and explore food and customs from Peru! For children in grades 2 - 5. Space is limited, so registration is required. To register, call (708) 301-7908.

Family Movie Night -- Sunday, April 26th at 4:30pm
Gather the family and head to the library for our Family Movie Night! Popcorn and beverages will be provided. Call the library at (708) 301-7908 for movie title and rating.

Lego Time -- Tuesday, April 28th from 4:30 - 5:30pm
Build your own Lego design to display in the library! All ages are welcome to participate. Legos will be provided.

Author Visit: Suzanne Morgan Williams -- Thursday, May 7th from 4:30 - 6pm
Childrens author Suzanne Morgan Williams' latest book, Bull Rider, has been selected by the Junior Library Guild for their Spring 2009 collection. Join us as Ms. Williams discusses skateboarding, bull riding, and how a young boy copes with the return of a wounded brother from the war. During the program, participants will help create a Rodeo Mural and design their own Brand to be displayed in the library. This event would make a great Scout outing! Upcoming! Route 66 on a Tank of Gas -- Tuesday, May 5th at 7pm
Many travelers believe that Route 66 in Illinois has more attractions per mile than any other state. With our current economy, people are deciding to remain closer to home on their vacations. For a short day trip, try the "triange route," taking Route 66 to St. Louis, and returning on the Great River Road and the Lincoln Highway. Learn more about Route 66 at this fascinating and fun program!

May 1st: Sign Up Begins for May Computer Classes
Friday, May 1st is the first day patrons can sign up for the Microsoft Office 2007 computer classes being held in May. Classes will be held on laptops (provided by the library) in the library's meeting room. Drinks and food are not allowed. Class size is limited to 5 participants. Classes are free. The schedule is as follows:

May 4th at 6:30pm

Basics of Microsoft Office Excel 2007
May 6th at 6:30pm
May 7th at 6:30pm
May 12th at 6:30pm
May 16th at 9am
