ADULTS & SENIORS

Chick Lit Book Discussion -- Tuesday, September 22nd at 7pm
Did you read Mia King's Sweet Life? If so, stop by this month's meeting of the Chick Lit Book Discussion! Books are available at the library for check out, and new members are always welcome.

Reverse Mortgage Seminar -- Wednesday, September 23rd at 7pm
Gene Mundt, a certified Reverse Mortgage Specialist, will discuss both the benefits and disadvantages of reverse mortgages. The program is open to seniors and other adults interested in learning more about this type of loan.

Healthy Eating -- Tuesday, September 29th at 7pm
Interested in living a healthier lifestyle? Start by learning how to improve your diet with El Chef Michael Niksic's Healthy Eating presentation. This program covers a wide range of ideas and methods to improve your diet and eating habits in a reasonable and straightforward manner.

TEENS

Teen Open House -- Wednesday, September 30th from 5-8pm
The library's Teen Open House is quickly approaching! The event, for teens in 6th grade and up, will be held on Wednesday, September 30th from 5 - 8pm. Activities including raffles, gaming, and a photo scavenger hunt will be held throughout the night, so stay the whole night or drop-in at any time! We'll also be having a food fear factor contest (with a signed parental consent form/waiver) -- we encourage those with food allergies to take their allergies into consideration before choosing to participate, although if you decide to participate and have food allergies, please turn in your signed consent form/waiver by September 23rd so that we may accommodate you. Hungry teens can decorate their own sweet treats from 5-6pm and indulge in pizza at 7pm while listening to the songs of local teen band Carnival Heist. KIDS

Starlight Storytime -- Monday, September 21st at 6:30pm
Enjoy a "starry" story, craft and a snack! For kids ages 4 - 7 only. Space is limited and registration is required.

Art Club -- Saturday, September 26th from 10:30 - 12pm
Learn fun facts about some of the world's greatest artists and use your imagination to create your own masterpiece to display in the library! Join us for all three sessions: Sept. 26 from 10:30 - noon, and Nov. 12 and Dec. 7th from 6 - 7:30pm. For kids in 3rd to 6th grade. Space is limited and registration is required.

Homemade Halloween Costumes -- Sunday, September 27th at 5pm
Need a Halloween costume? Join Holly Cleeland, author of Glue and Go Costumes for Kids and learn how to use things laying around your house to make that special costume! A costume will be raffled off to someone in the audience. Space is limited and registration is required.

Judy Moody Program -- Thursday, October 1st at 6pm
Kids in grades 2 - 4 are invited to make a Judy Moody inspired craft, east snacks and enjoy a short character book discussion. Reading a Judy Moody book is suggested before the program date. Space is limited and registration is required.

Bookmobile Fall Coloring Contest -- September 28 - October 7
Visit the Bookmobile and enter the Bookmbile's Fall coloring contest for your chance to win 'smencils' and puzzle erasers!

Halloween Costume Swap
The Homer Library is hosting our first Halloween Costume Swap on Thursday, October 8th from 3:30 - 7pm! Costumes and accessories are now being accepted through October 7th (you can see a sampling of donated items hanging at the entrance to the children's department!). For every gently-used costume you donate, you will receive a ticket to shop the Costume Swap. For a complete list of details, please click here!
