ADULTS & SENIORS

Prairiesmoke Writers Group -- Wednesday, September 9th at 7pm
Stop by the monthly meeting of the library's writers group to meet the group's new writing facilitator! You're also invited to discuss your work with other writers and have fun with some group writing assignments. New members are welcome! Writers of all levels are encouraged to attend. Registration is not required.

Armchair Travelers: 7 Modern Wonders of the World -- Friday, September 11th at 1:30pm
Bill Helmuth will take you on a tour of the 7 Modern Wonders of the World. From the Taj Mahal to the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza, Bill has visited each of the 7 Modern Wonders and will share a unique perspective on these monumental masterpieces.

Mystery Book Club -- Monday, September 14th at 7pm
Join us as we discuss our thoughts (good or bad!) about Singularity by Kathryn Casey! Books are available at the library for check out, and new members are always welcome.

Adult Book Discussion -- Wednesday, September 16th at 7:30pm
We'll be talking about our latest book club pick, The God of Animals by Aryn Kyle, and we want to hear what you think! Books are available at the library for check out, and new members are always welcome.

TEENS

Teen Advisory Board Meeting -- Thursday, September 10th at 7pm
Teens in grade 9-12 are invited to join TAB and influence the library's teen services. We'll be discussing ideas for next year's Energy program and creating artwork to hang in our teen section! Members will receive volunteer hours for attending TAB meetings. Teens will also get the scoop on our upcoming party to celebrate our new teen section -- woo hoo!

Teen Drop-In Craft -- Tuesday, September 15th from 4-5:30pm
Look out! It's the first project of our teen craft series! Stop by the library anytime between 4 - 5:30pm to make some funky magnets for the fridge or your locker. All projects not finished by 5:30pm can be taken home or completed at the next teen craft day. Bring your friends & get crafty! For teens in 6th grade and up.

Teen Manga Group -- Thursday, September 17th at 7pm
The library's Teen Manga Group is now a member of Operation Anime, so we'll be watching some anime and eating popcorn! Open to teens in 6th grade and up.

KIDS

Halloween Costume Swap
The Homer Library is hosting our first Halloween Costume Swap on Thursday, October 8th from 3:30 - 7pm! Costumes and accessories are now being accepted through October 7th. For every gently-used costume you donate, you will receive a ticket to shop the Costume Swap. For a complete list of details, please click here!

Fall Newsletter & Program Sign-Up: Monday, Sept. 14th
The Fall newsletter has arrived! Inside you will find information on the upcoming programs at the library and on the bookmobile. Copies of the newsletter are available at the library and bookmobile, and will also be included in the September 10th edition of the Homer Horizon. But you can also click here to read it from home! In-person registration for all programs begins on Monday, September 14th at 8:30 am, and telephone registration begins at noon on that same day. We hope to see you and your family at a program soon!

Teen Open House
We are putting the finishing touches on our new Teen Area, and so we're throwing a party to celebrate! The Teen Open House, for teens in 6th grade and up, will be held on Wednesday, September 30th from 5 - 8pm. Activities including raffles, a photo scavenger hunt, and a food fear factor contest (with a signed parental consent form) will be held throughout the night, so stay the whole night or drop-in at any time! Hungry teens can decorate their own sweet treats from 5-6pm and indulge in pizza at 7pm while listening to the songs of local teen band Carnival Heist. Now Open Sundays!
The library is now open on Sundays again! Visit us anytime between 4-8pm Sundays (except holidays) from now through Memorial Day. All regular library services are available!

New Database: Reference USA
The library now subscribes to Reference USA, a database for researching business and residental information. To access this database, go to www.referenceusa.com and type in your Homer Library card number (without any spaces). If you need help with logging on or searching, please contact the library's Reference Department!
