Senior Tax Assistance -- Wednesday, March 31st and April 7th from 9am-noonThe AARP and the Senior Services Center of Will County will be providing free tax services at the Homer Library. Please bring the following items: photo ID, proof of social security number & dependent, all income statements, all deductions to be claimed, last years federal and state returns, and your property pin number. First come, first served, on a walk-in basis only. Can't make it? Tax Assistance days will also be held on April 14th.
Armchair Travelers: Prague -- Friday, April 9th at 1:30pmAl Popoqits returns to guide you through Prague, the crossroads of Europe. Discover the stunning sites and culture of this city through color photographs and personal experiences. Light refreshments will be served.
TEENSACT Essay Writing -- Tuesday, March 30th at 7pmIn this workshop, students begin by writing a practice esay under timed, test-like conditions. You'll get advice to help you recognize what essay graders are looking for, as well as strategies on writing effective essays. Sponsored by Kaplan. Registration encouraged.
Youth Activity Committee Meeting -- Wednesday, March 31st at 4:30pmTeens in 5th - 8th grade are invited to join the library's Youth Activity Committee! Help us decorate the library for our Chick It Out program! We are a friendly group, and members receive community service hours for attending. New members are welcome!
ACT Testing Strategies -- Monday, April 5th at 7pm
Learn how to score higher on admissions tests using key Kaplan strategies. The format and content of the tests are explored, including ways to take advantage of the test format to maximize efficiency on the exam. Various question types will be reviewed and students will be given a study plan for success. Sponsored by Kaplan.
Teen Book Club -- Tuesday, April 6th at 7pmJoin us for a discussion of Ruined by Paula Morris! A ghost story set in New Orleans, it's sure to get you creeped out! For teens in 6th grade and up.
Teen Advisory Board Meeting -- Thursday, April 8th at 7pmIn celebration of the library's Chick It Out program, we'll be making a chick craft with Twinkies! For teens in 9th-12th grade.
KIDSLego Time -- Tuesday, March 30th at 4:30pmBuild your own Lego design to display in the library! All ages are welcome to participate. Legos will be provided.
Bingo -- Thursday, April 1st at 10am (ages 4-6) and 11am (grades 2-5)Get your game on with Bingo at the library! It's easy to play and lots of fun. Kids ages 4-6 are invited to come to the 10am session, while kids in grades 2-5 are invited to come to the 11am session.
Culture Club: Switzerland -- Saturday, April 10th from 10am-noonTravel to faraway lands and explore foods and customs from Switzerland! For kids in grades 2-5. Space is limited and registration is required.
MORE INFOLibrary ClosedIn observance of Good Friday and Easter, the library will be closed on Friday, April 2nd and Sunday, April 4th. We will be open regular hours (8:30am-4pm) on Saturday, April 3rd.
Macy's Museum Adventure PassThe Homer Library is excited to offer, as of April 1, 2010, Macy's Museum Adventure Passes!
