ADULTS & SENIORS

Senior Tax Assistance -- Wednesday, March 10th & 17th from 9am-noon
The AARP and the Senior Services Center of Will County will be providing free tax services at the Homer Library. Please bring the following items: photo ID, proof of social security number & dependent, all income statements, all deductions to be claimed, last years federal and state returns, and your property pin number. First come, first served, on a walk-in basis only. Can't make it? Tax Assistance days will also be held on March 24th, 31st, April 7th, and 14th.

Prairiesmoke Writers Group -- Wednesday, March 10th at 7pm
Stop by the monthly meeting of the library's writers group! You're invited to discuss your work with other writers and have fun with some group writing assignments. New members are welcome! Writers of all levels are encouraged to attend. Registration is not required.

Armchair Travelers: Olympic Cities -- Friday, March 12th at 1:30pm
Join Bill Helmuth as he takes you on a tour of many of the cities where the Olympic Games have been held. You'll also journey through Rio de Janeiro, the site of the 2016 Olympic Games. Light refreshments will be served.

How Smart Consumers Select a Remodeling Contractor -- Monday, March 15th at 7pm
Year after year, remodeling places in the top five among complaints to the Better Business Bureau. Learn the method for selecting the right company and enjoying a postive remodeling experience.

Adult Book Discussion -- Wednesday, March 17th at 7:30pm
Join us as we discuss Then We Came to the End by Joshua Ferris. New members are welcome! Books are available at the library for check out.

TEENS

Tech Feeding Frenzy -- Monday, March 8th at 4pm
The first program for our weeklong celebration of Teen Tech Week! Make brownie iPods and Wii remotes! For teens in 6th grade & up. Registration required.

Your Life with Music -- Tuesday, March 9th from 6-8pm
Create a movie with your favorite photos! We'll teach you how to add special effects and music using Windows Movie Maker. For teens in 6th grade & up. Registration required.

Game Design 101 -- Wednesday, March 10th from 6-8pm
You'll learn a quick intoduction to the beginner's game design program Scratch! For teens in 6th grade & up. Registration required.

Crafty Gamers -- Thursday, March 11th from 6-8pm
A gaming event + crafts! Stop by to create Mario mushroom iPod cozies (sewing required) and paper Mario dioramas. Or just come to play Rock Band and Mario Cart! For teens in 6th grade & up. Registration required.

Teen Advisory Board -- Thursday, March 11th at 7pm
Teens in high school are invited to join the library's Teen Advisory Board! Share your input on upcoming projects and programs, and have some fun while doing so! Members will receive volunteer hours for attending TAB meetings (you'll get snacks, too!). For teens in 6th grade and up.

Tech Trash Wear -- Saturday, March 13th from 2-3pm
Our final event of Teen Tech Week! Make jewelry from old computer keyboards! For teens in 6th grade & up. Registration required.

Teen Manga Group -- Thursday, March 18th at 7pm
This month we'll learn a quick introduction into making anime music videos! For teens in 6th grade & up.

KIDS

St. Patrick's Day Show -- Sunday, March 14th at 4:30pm
Celebrate St. Patrick's Day and sing along with Tim Burr as he performs his one man show! Bring the entire family to this musical event!

Build a Bunny -- Saturday, March 20th at 10am or noon
Make your own stuffy bunny bear. For children of all ages. Registration required. There is a $10 fee required at sign up.

Chick It Out!
The Homer Library is excited to announce Chick It Out, a unique library event featuring the incubation and hatching of live chicks! Beginning April 20th, patrons can visit the library to see the eggs in the incubator or view our 24 hour live webcam from our website. Programs celebrating Chick It Out begin on March 14th, including these eggs-cellent events:

3/29: Drop in all ages kids craft from 11am-2pm. Make a flying chick!
3/31: Youth Activity Committee meeting (for teens in 5th-8th grade) at 4:30pm. Decorate the library with stringed eggs!
4/8: Teen Advisory Board meeting (for teens in high school) at 7pm. Make Twinkie chicks!
4/20: The arrival of the eggs! Don't miss the special delivery! An exact time of delivery will be announced soon.
4/20: All ages kids chick craft at 4:30pm. Make a chick card!
4/22: Drop in teen craft (for teens in 6th grade & up) from 6-8pm. Make an eggs-traordinary egg pot!
4/27: Chick Lit Book Discussion for adults at 7pm.
5/2: Family Movie Event at 4:30pm. Come enjoy a movie and popcorn!

3/14-5/5: Peeps eggs-treme video/photo contest
4/12-5/5: Eggs-ceptional coloring contest
4/19-5/5: Guess the eggs-act hatch date contest

More information will be available in the coming days. Thank you to the University of Illinois Extension Will County Unit for providing the eggs and the special delivery, and to the Will County Farm Bureau for providing the incubator!
