ADULTS & SENIORS

Prairiesmoke Writers Group -- Wednesday, May 11th at 7pm
Stop by the monthly meeting of the library's writers group! You're invited to discuss your work with other writers and have fun with some group writing assignments. New members are welcome! Writers of all levels are encouraged to attend. Registration is not required.

Armchair Travelers: Turkey -- Friday, May 13th at 1:30pm
Al Popowits takes you on a guided tour of Turkey. You will visit vast underground cities, churches of the Goreme Valley, the ancient ruins of Aphrodisias, Perge, and Ephesus and the city of Istanbul. A light refreshment will be served.

Adult Book Discussion -- Wednesday, May 18th at 7:30pm
Join us as we discuss Great House by Nicole Krauss! Books are available at the library for check out. New members are welcome!

Senior County Assessments -- Friday, May 20th at 1pm
The Will County Supervisor of Assessment Office will discuss property assessments, exemptions,and appeal filings. They will answer questions and make sure taxpayers are educated and enlightened on how the assessment process work.

TEENS

Teen Advisory Board Meeting -- Thursday, May 12th at 7pm
Join us as we discuss the library's teen programming, including book club, crafts, & movies! For teens in grades 9-12.

Teen Manga Group -- Thursday, May 19th at 7pm
Love manga & anime? Come hang out at out Teen Manga Group meetings! We watch anime episodes, play manga-inspired games, & more. For teens in 6th grade & up.

KIDS

Last Week of Storytime and Wiggle & Giggles Begins May 9
Please note that the last week of storytime and Wiggles & Giggles sessions for the Spring is from May 9-12. These programs will resume in the Fall. Meanwhile, we hope that you'll register for our Summer Reading Program, which begins on Monday, June 13th!

Teen Intern Program: Sign Up Begins May 16th
Need service hours? Interested in volunteering in your community? Become a Teen Intern at the library this summer! Applications will be available online (a link will be on our website) beginning Monday, May 16th.The Teen Intern Program is open to teens in 6th grade and up (as of Fall 2011). Shifts are usually limited to 1-3 hours per week (from June 13 through July 23) and schedules are on a first come, first served basis. Interns participate in various Summer Reading Program activities of their choosing, such as the reading desk & helping with various childrens programming.Have questions about the Teen Intern Program? Baby Chicks: Round Two!
We had to say goodbye to the 13 chicks that recently hatched at the library. They've returned to the Homer Glen farm whose farmer so graciously let us incubate & raise them for a while! But we are happy to say that we have another lot of 18 eggs that we are currently incubating. The hatch date for these eggs is Wednesday, May 25th. To view a live feed of the eggs, click here!

Sunday Hours
The Homer Library is closed on Sundays from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. But there are still two Sundays left for you to visit us: May 15th & 22nd! Please note that we will also be closed on Monday, May 30th in observance of Memorial Day.
