Welcome, Butterflies! Our butterflies have hatched! Stop in to see them in our butterfly habitat before we release them. You can also sign our butterfly journal, suggest names for the butterflies, & then take home coloring sheets!
Summer Reading Program Begins Monday, June 13thOur annual Summer Reading Program is almost here! This 6 week reading program -- "A Midsummer Knight's Read" -- begins on Monday, June 13th. Come in any time during that week to sign up, & then stop in every week (until July 23rd) to note your reading accomplishments & receive raffle tickets & other prizes. Registration for all summer programming will also begin on this date. We hope to see you in the library this summer!
Library ClosedThe library will be closed on Sunday, May 29th and Monday, May 30th in observance of Memorial Day. Bookmobile service will also be suspended for the day. We will reopen on Tuesday morning at 8:30 am. And as a reminder, the library is now closed on Sundays for the summer. Please take a moment to remember those who have served our country and those who are currently serving! Have a safe and wonderful holiday.

MORE INFOTeen Intern Program Applications: Available Now!Applications for the Teen Intern Program are now online (via our website). Hours worked during the program can be used for service hour requirements. It is open to teens in grades 6-12 (as of Fall 2011), and the schedule is based on first come, first served. Butterfly HabitatIn addition to the eggs that will hopefully be hatching next week, we are now also home to a butterfly habitat! Stop in the library to see them grow from tiny eggs to beautiful butterflies, and sign our butterfly journal!

MORE INFOTeen Intern Program: Sign Up Begins May 16thNeed service hours? Interested in volunteering in your community? Become a Teen Intern at the library this summer! Applications will be available online (a link will be on our website) beginning Monday, May 16th.The Teen Intern Program is open to teens in 6th grade and up (as of Fall 2011). Shifts are usually limited to 1-3 hours per week (from June 13 through July 23) and schedules are on a first come, first served basis. Interns participate in various Summer Reading Program activities of their choosing, such as the reading desk & helping with various childrens programming.Have questions about the Teen Intern Program? Baby Chicks: Round Two!We had to say goodbye to the 13 chicks that recently hatched at the library. They've returned to the Homer Glen farm whose farmer so graciously let us incubate & raise them for a while! But we are happy to say that we have another lot of 18 eggs that we are currently incubating. The hatch date for these eggs is Wednesday, May 25th. To view a live feed of the eggs, click

Sunday HoursThe Homer Library is closed on Sundays from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. But there are still two Sundays left for you to visit us: May 15th & 22nd! Please note that we will also be closed on Monday, May 30th in observance of Memorial Day.
